A dark re-imagining of the classic Grimm’s Fairy Tales. Transporting them from the farms, forests and castles of medieval Europe to the back streets and tower blocks of a modern British city.

“The real monsters live amongst us”

There’s a reason the work of the Brothers Grimm’s have never faded from the public consciousness.
Rooted in the most universal and fundamental human emotions, they’ve entertained children the world over and remain as relevant today as they were in centuries past…but not all fairy tales are meant for children.

We will go back to each story’s darker origin and reinvent the classic tales with a dark, modern twist. All of them set in a fictional northern city, the stories stand alone, but the characters interconnect...

Once upon a the northwest of England.

“Heroes and villains exist...they’re our friends and neighbours.”

Our first six stories are; Repunzel, Hansel and Gretel, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, The Pied Piper and Little M. These are just six examples of the kinds of stories we could tell. Outside of the Grimm oeuvre there are a treasure trove of famous fairytales to use as inspiration. Other’s ripe for adaptation are: The Frog Prince, Cinderella, Rumpelstiltskin, The Golden Goose, The Ugly Duckling, Goldilocks and the
Three Bears, Pinocchio, The Emperor's New Clothes, Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast.

We see GRIMM UP NORTH as an hour long show, catering to an adult audience as we combine the
violence and sexuaity of AMERICAN HORROR STORY with the sinister world building of BLACK MIRROR.
